Getaway Destination: Litchfield
There are lots of wonderful things going on in the Litchfield area this summer, and they are well worth planning a getaway around!
The Litchfield area, in the Northwest section of Connecticut is a fantastic destination for a getaway. Not only is the area absolutely beautiful, but there are so many things to do within easy driving distance for everyone. The Litchfield area of the state is steeped in history, culture, outdoor activities, and great food! If you happen to be driving to Litchfield from Western Connecticut, consider driving the scenic back roads through Roxbury, Bridgewater and Washington Depot. As always, be sure to check websites for specifics and seasonal information.
The Warner Theatre is located in Torrington, the town next to the town of Litchfield. The Warner, northwest Connecticut’s largest performing arts center, has a great lineup scheduled for the spring and summer season! Some of the highlights include: The Ivy League of Comedy, May 27; tickets are here. Abbafab on June 16; get tickets here. March Farm is also a quick drive from the town of Litchfield. There is so much going on at March Farm! The Friends Friday Concert Series happens every other Friday during the summer, beginning June 9. Dancing is encouraged! March Farm will also celebrate the start of summer on June 21 with Celebrate Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Style!
You can plan a great getaway while you’re in the area for events at Warner Theatre or March Farms! Some places to consider staying in the area include The Mayflower Inn and Spa, which bills itself as “An exquisite country retreat that defines New England elegance”, and Winvian Farms, which boasts luxury cottages and gourmet food in a stunning setting. The Litchfield Inn is another inn to check out, calling itself a “modern-meets-traditionalist colonial boutique hotel.”
Days Inn by Wyndam Torrington is another hotel to consider. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations, free truck and RV parking, and free WiFi.
